Register Now for the Euro Challenge

The Euro Challenge is an exciting educational competition and opportunity for high school students to learn about the European Union and the euro.

To register as a new teacher:-

  1. Go to http://www.euro-challenge.org/wordpress/register-2/
  2. Enter your email address and a temporary password will be emailed to you.Please check your junk/spam box for this email as many email systems will block the email.
  3. After you receive your temporary password, login to your account athttp://www.euro-challenge.org/wordpress/login/.
  4. After logging into your account you will be taken to a page where you can change your password.
  5. After changing your password, click on “Register School Information” on the left hand bar, enter your school’s information and click on “Register School”
  6. Team Registration will open later this fall.

 

To register as a returning teacher:

  1. Go to http://www.euro-challenge.org/wordpress/login/
  2. Enter the email address and password you used when you created your account on the site. If you have forgotten your password, click on the “Lost Password” link at the bottom of the page and a new password will be emailed to you. Please check your junk/spam box for this email as many email systems will block the email.
  3. After logging into your account, click on “Register School Information” on the left hand bar, verify the information about your school is correct and make any necessary changes. You must click on “Update School Info” for your registration to go through, even if you do not make any changes.

Awards Ceremony to Be Held Thursday, April 6, 2017,

Sponsored by The University of Houston Bauer College Financial Symposium

Overview

Texas Council on Economic Education (TCEE), Friends of Consumer Freedom, and Texas Society of Public Accountants will sponsor an art contest displaying financial literacy concepts for Houston area schools. The competition is in conjunction with the UH Bauer College Financial Symposium that is part of Houston Money Week 2017.  The deadline for entering the artwork is March 23, 2017, at 4:30 pm.  The awards ceremony will be held at the University of Houston on Thursday, April 6, 2017,  in the evening. The awards ceremony is sponsored by the University of Houston, Bauer College of Business.  TCEE thanks all of its sponsors including  CopyDR. for their support, as well.

Using the rubric below for a campus based competition, each school may enter their top 10 pieces of art from each grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) that address the theme, Smarter Texans Save.  Kindergarten through grade 12 students who live in the greater Houston metropolitan area are eligible to enter the art competition.  Twelve winning students will have their artwork included in a calendar that will be distributed throughout the Houston area.

Deadline Date and Requirements

To be eligible for the art contest, the completed forms must be submitted along with the artwork.

  • Page 6:  Campus Art Registration Affidavit to be completed by the sponsoring educator
  • Page 7:  Student Art Registration Form to be completed by student or parent and requires necessary adult signatures
  • Page 8:  Art Contest Rubric:  Smarter Texans Save to be completed by student or parent and requires necessary adult signature

 

A sponsoring educator from the campus will need to MAIL the student artwork to be received in the Texas Council on Economic Education office by 4:30 pm on March 23, 2017.

The top ten campus winning pieces of artwork per grade band from each campus need to be mailed and received by March 23, 2017 to the Texas Council on Economic Education Office.

Galveston Area Personal Financial Literacy Training for Grades 9-12

Workshop Highlights:

  • Teachers will learn. . .
    the concepts included in the personal financial literacy TEKS 9 to 12 social studies, Economics, math and career courses.
  • how they can empower their students to make informed and responsible choices as consumers and savers, including planning for college.
  • how to use student-centered lessons that are designed to reinforce students’ understanding through meaningful, personalized and practical activities.
  • about online tools that increase conceptual understanding by making information more meaningful and attainable for all students.

**Please bring your own laptop to access and download lessons during the training**

Audience: High school teachers responsible for teaching personal financial literacy through social studies, Economics, CTE, and math courses.

The training will also provide support for those teaching the new CTE Financial Mathematics course and the Social Studies Personal Financial Literacy course.

Your results will be due May 31, 2017. *A $50 stipend will be paid upon receipt of the student results.
